Bukidnon will once again join the global celebration of Software Freedom Day (SFD) this September 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the People’s Hall, New Malaybalay City Hall, with activities highlighting the impact and benefits of free and open-source software (FOSS).
What is Software Freedom Day?
Software Freedom Day is observed worldwide to promote awareness of open technologies that allow users to freely access, use, share, and improve software. Advocates say these tools foster innovation, transparency, and collaboration, values that are increasingly relevant in today’s digital-driven society.
Highlights of the Bukidnon Event
This year’s Software Freedom Day at Bukidnon is set to feature talks, demonstrations, and community discussions that will cover how open-source applications are shaping education, businesses, and governance. The event aims to empower individuals, students, and local organizations by introducing them to practical tools and opportunities available through open technology.
